Summary
Discover how silica can help support collagen production in the body.
The following “in vitro” study conducted by SILICIUM LABORATORIES confirms the effectiveness of Living Silica in collagen production. The results demonstrate that Living Silica does not present any cytotoxicity towards human fibroblasts.
The results reveal that Living Silica significantly increases the level of collagen produced by human fibroblasts, showing a 13% and 19% increase compared to the original sample.
The conclusion of the Living Silica test, under the experimental conditions used, is as follows:
- It induces a significant increase in collagen levels of 13% and 19% respectively, at concentrations of 0.5% and 1%, in cultured human fibroblasts compared to the original sample.
- It does not induce cytotoxicity at concentrations of 0.2%, 0.5%, and 1%.
The collagen evaluation index was determined by performing the separation and identification of hydroxyproline using reversed-phase HPLC. Integration of the fluorescence peaks allowed the calculation of hydroxyproline concentration in the culture medium.
